EDITOR’S NOTE: Nick Gibson, owner of Trans Cascadia Excursions and partner with investor Blair Banker, Investor, submitted the following statement regarding Trans Cascadia’s cancellation of its proposed development in Westfir.
There has been a lot of negative self interest. Blair Banker will sell. We do not feel that the City of Westfir supports progress. The petition was not then an honest portrayal of our intention. Bikers have passion and purpose to improve communities and trails.
Council has been negative all along. Trans-Cascadia’s investment has been lost, lives have been impacted. A reputable business contributor, a positive force to community. We will move to Oakridge if city government will support our business. We feel a city council should make good business decisions for the city. A three and a half to five million dollar project has been cancelled.
I love Westfir and my corner, but, on principle, I am inclined to discouragement. City Councils should always support small business. Bummer to see it difficult.
