By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor — As of this morning, Monday, July 31, the Bedrock Fire has consumed approximately 10,000 acres and is 3% contained. Much of the Highway 58 corridor has seen significant amounts of smoke.
If you are interested in joining the meetings indicated on the flyer, they will be live streamed on the “Bedrock Fire 2023” Facebook page, and recorded for later viewing.
Incident report boards are posted in Oakridge in front of Ray’s Food Place and the Oakridge Post Office. Incident boards in Lowell are at the High School and soon to be in front of City Hall.
George Custer lives in Oakridge with his wife Sayre. George is a former smokejumper from his hometown of Cave Junction, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. and ran a construction company in Southern California. George assumed the volunteer duties as the Editor of the Highway 58 Herald in 2022. He loves riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, building all things wood, and playing drums on the weekends in his office.
