The voter registration deadline for the May 17, 2022 Primary Election is Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
People who are not registered to vote in any Oregon county may register online at oregonvotes.gov no later than 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, April 26. The online option is available only to those with a valid Oregon driver’s license, DMV-issued identification card or learner’s permit.
Voters who wish to change their political party affiliation in order to vote in the closed primary races must update their registration by Tuesday, April 26, as well.
Primary elections are held so the members of a party can choose the party’s candidates for office. Only registered Democrats and Republicans can vote to nominate candidates for their respective political parties. Other registered voters will receive a ballot with nonpartisan offices only.
New and updated registration options include:
- Online at www.oregonvotes.gov no later than 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, April 26. The online option is available to those with a valid Oregon driver’s license, DMV-issued identification card or learner’s permit.
- Submit a voter registration form to the Lincoln Street Drop Box next to the Elections Office by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26.
- Mail a voter registration card to the Elections Office with a postmark no later than Tuesday, April 26.
New voters who will turn 18 on or before the May 27 Election Day may register by the April 26 deadline and receive a ballot, even if they are still 17 on the registration deadline date.
The Lincoln Street ballot drop box at Lane County Elections will be open now through Tuesday, April 26, at 5:00 p.m. to make it easier for voters to drop off completed registration cards.
