News Release from Lane Co. Government
Posted on FlashAlert: April 4th, 2023 8:00 AM
The 16-hour training will occur virtually on April 27 and in person in Cottage Grove on April 28. Signup will be limited to 20 contractors (first come, first served), and training will focus on various deconstruction principles, including:
- Environmental hazards
- Building assessment
- Jobsite safety
- Tools & equipment
- Site preparation & management
- Full structure deconstruction
- Salvage operations
“Deconstruction involves carefully disassembling a structure so that materials used during its initial construction can be repurposed,” said Lane County Waste Reduction Program Supervisor Angie Marzano. “When salvaged materials are donated to nonprofit organizations or used as new building elements, communities and homeowners reap the benefits. We are thrilled to offer this skill-building education for area contractors.”
Participants must commit to two full days, sign a waiver, and provide their own PPE. Register for the training at the county’s signup form.
