Editor’s note: While this act of defiance by the cartoonist may seem a bit trivial, it is but one small example of the threat that is being imposed on the freedom of the press. When owners of news outlets put the clamps on what can be published and what cannot, the ability as journalists to provide the public with a picture of what is going on, whether in the government, business, institutional, or private sectors, hurts the public more than anyone else.

George Custer lives in Oakridge with his wife Sayre. George is a former smokejumper from his hometown of Cave Junction, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. and ran a construction company in Southern California. He loves riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, building all things wood, and playing drums on the weekends in his office.
