Be patient. The fish are out there to be found
Kokanee fishing has been a bit slow for most anglers on Odell. As early season finds Mackinaw or Lake Trout terrorizing and feasting on the schools of Kokanee, causing them to flee and move often. With most modern sonar and fish finders, moving schools are tough to stay up with. However, anglers with more advanced (and more expensive) side scanning sonar, are more able to stay with these rapidly moving fish.
Nice hauls coming out of Odell
Wickiup and Diamond Lakes are making comebacks
Wickiup has been producing some very nice Kokanee, although reports and success varied opening day. This is good news as it looks like the famed Kokanee at Wickiup may be making a bit of a comeback after the Reservoir was drained three years ago. Let’s hope that fishing pressure doesn’t impact the reduced numbers likely available.
