The Highway 58 Herald is taking a “swing” at trying to integrate some of the Oakridge High School sports, starting with baseball and softball into our news. We would love to cover every game with pictures, highlights, and narratives. However, it takes time, people, and funds to do so. All three of which are currently in short supply at The Herald.
The Herald understands how important it is to support our local sports programs. Families, the athletes themselves, and particularly parents, like to read about their young blooming athletes’ endeavors. Whether slamming a home run or stealing a base, we all want to relive those moments and hopefully preserve them for later. I know that when I was in high school down in Cave Junction, my father cut every article that had my name in it and pasted it in an album that I still have today.
If you follow your son’s or daughter’s games, or just follow the sport because you like to watch, please feel free to let The Herald know. We’d love to have you take some pictures and write down the highlights of the game, either home or away games. Even if you’re a student who follows the team, we’ll help you get an article together. You’ll be credited with the story. You’d be helping all the parents who can’t make the games to feel a part of it.
The Herald has yet to get the schedule for the track meets. We’ll post it as soon as we get it.
